Just Trade Tagua Squirrel Pendant
This pendant is skillfully hand carved from a tagua nut. A tagua is a nut from a type of palm that grows in the South American jungle. The pendant is then placed on an antique gold effect chain.
This pendant is hand carved by Ronald who lives in Sosote, Ecuador. He selects a Tagua nut which is as close to the desired finished shape as possible, the nut is then formed using a variety of sanding processes and polished to achieve a smooth surface. The pendant is coloured using textile dyes and then material is carved away to reveal the contrasting natural material below.
Pendant size 4cm high x 4cm wide, chain length 90cm.
Tagua may darken slightly over time, this is normal. It can be buffed up with a soft white cotton cloth. Although hardwearing, if dropped on a hard surface tagua could break. Never immerse tagua in water as this can cause it to crack.
